Alfie, Aunties and Uncles

We have touchdown.  The wee man has made the 7 1/2 hour trip from Belfast to New York and has arrived a little tired but fit and healthy.  Its great to see the wee man but thoughts go out to my Mum and Dad who have looked after him for the past month and a half, and i think have gown more than a little fond of him :-).  While we can now enjoy his company, they will miss it although they should remember when they take his old bed and toys to Antrim animal Sanctuary that there are plenty of wee dogs there that would love to give them their company.... http://www.midantrimanimalsanctuary.org/?page_id=117

Alfie's first night involved a trip to the local dog run where he did everything but run and a Chinese on Washington Street where we all sat outside and it was Ben was the rascal!  He slept in his crate in our walk in wardrobe although i think he was a little jet lagged as Leigh got a wet nose in her face at 4am (the joys of a low bed)

I received a lovely hand written letter during the week from my big sis Kelly!  Honestly cant remember the last time i received a hand written letter so it was quite lovely.  It started:

I cant remember if i told you but a couple of friends and I decided that Facebook is destroying the art of written communication so we occasionally get together in cafes and write proper handwritten letters to friends who are far away.

Apparently i now qualify for that stipulation :-).  This means though that this blog now comes with homework!  Yes i challenge you to get together with some friends and write a letter to someone you haven't seen in ages.  Can be as long or as short as you like but i guarantee it will put a smile on their face when they receive it.

Our next couple of months are guaranteed to be pretty busy as we have a number of family members visiting starting with Kelly and Michael who both arrived yesterday!  Bit out of the blue as the rest have booked about 3 years in advance but Michael is attending a work conference here so a nice surprise all round.  We are meeting them today over at Hoboken Pier 13 for lunch and then will show them the sites.  They're here till Thursday so hopefully a few more lunches/dinners/drinkies over the coming few days.  Will be lovely to see them!

Kelly and Michael.......or is that Batman?

After that we have Sophie and Chloe over for 10 days from the 23rd!  I hear they are more than a little excited.  They will love it here and may not come home again!  We could offer them live in nanny roles but only if they work for peanuts, we always have the threat of deportation if they want a raise :-)

So ill leave you with the usual random photos (that and your homework!)

Endless fun

  1. Great to hear things are good for you all. Have started my first hand written letter as requested....to our summer au pair who has just returned home to Spain. Not quite as far as New York, but a girl's gotta start somewhere. Love to all. Fiona Kincaid xx
