We had an amazing Christmas this year and even though we weren't at home with our family's we still had an great time as Ben and little Katie had the best day ever!! Obviously the most important people where missing from our day, our families and although we enjoyed our Christmas it did feel strange not being with them.
Ben was a lot more aware this year of the 'big white bearded man' and we had so much fun to the run up to Christmas making cards to send home, making decorations with toilet rolls and anything else we could find! Ben became obsessed with anything that was festive like Christmas trees (our tree had to go up 20th nov), snowmen, Santa hats (which he wore pretty much most of December) reindeer's and of course pressies (he carried around a Christmas present the last few days, little did he know it was an empty biscuit box lol, but it made him happy)!! He truly made Christmas this year and of course not forgetting little Katie who was a bit poorly over the holidays as she was getting 5 teeth at once but alas she made the most of it and if nothing else she was thankfully of those new teeth by the time the turkey was cooked!

Yes it is pretty amazing to say we've spent Christmas in New York but here are some reasons that doesn't make it as good as home!
FAMILY - we missed our family dearly, Skype just doesn't cut it when you want a big daddy bear hug or the homemade fry ups on christmas morning at mums. Or just simply being a part of all the little silly traditions that families do over the years. Missing my sister arriving at my mums in her pj's on christmas morn! Missed just watching grandparents enjoying the kids and letting them run riot in their houses!
Nights out with our friends, they are few and far between here as we've no babysitters but we truely missed our friends at home and the good nights out that we all normally have this time of year!
Ann's shortbread yes its high up there cause its amazing and although we did get a special shipment over it was no where near enough to satisfy the cravings Ross kept hiding it on the top shelf out of my reach!!
Christmas crackers - searched high and low for them and left it too late to order them on line, big disapointment nearly ruined Christmas..lol
Proper Chocolate - guess who missed this??? Quote from Ross 'I've really missed chocolate this christmas day (no doubt if this list was made by Ross that would have been on top, sorry family but you know him by now what he's like about his chocolate!)
Bingo on boxing night at my mum and dads - yes I know its a must every year unfortunately, but we did miss it!
