Manhattan 3rd-7th July 2014

Having been inspired by my Sisters fantastic travel blog (http://weewideworld.blogspot.com/) we have created our own blog.  The only guarantees are that the content will not be as detailed and the writing no where near as elegant.

As most of you know through the continual in your face presence of Facebook my family and I have relocated to New York (Big Apply, NYC, The City insert as appropriate) via a work transfer.  After much deliberation (3 months worth) followed by an even longer legal and HR process (6 months) we finally touched down in JFK on Thursday 3rd July after many last minute (we got the go ahead the Friday before!) phone calls we finally got a 1 bedroom (yes 1) apartment for the 4 of us.  4th of July Holiday etc meant that, apparently, this was the last apartment left in NYC so glad to get it yet anxious as to our we were going to cope.....

As it happens, however, apartment is spot on and apart from Ben sleeping in the bathroom (poor wee man spent the first 6 months in Ballyeaston in the cupboard (that boy will have issues!)!) we are all good :-)

Journey itself had me feeling pretty nervous being Ben and Katies first flight but they were super stars.  Ben hadnt been well the day before and carried it through to the travel day throwing up over me at Burger King before the flight but thankfully was ok on the flight.  Flying business class certainly helped and kudos to my boss for approving a seat for Ben (both of us sitting with a young child for the duration would have been hell) but as it turned out the seat beside Leigh was also empty so Katie got her own as well!  Winner winner chicken dinner......or fillet steak dinner, it was business class after all :-)

Airplane!  Airplane Mommy!!

Living it up

Ill have the steak please

Legroom!!

First few days have been pretty busy having visited Midtown, 42nd Street (Times Sq), Columbus Circle, Soho, ChinaTown, Little Italy, Greenwich, Tribeca & Hoboken to name but few.  All walking (except for Hoboken as we haven't figured out how to walk on water yet) so were fairly knackered but its all good stuff.  Heavy rain on the Thursday and Friday upon arrival but average temp is sitting about 87F so cant complain.

Library.  Kelly would love it in here, I went because of Ghostbusters

Times Square

Hells Kitchen

4th July Skyline

Empire State building, 2 blocks away!
Ben loves the parks, lots of water features

I aint afraid of no Ghost

Who ya gonna call?

Don't cross the streams!

Katies first swing!  Loved it!

Tomorrow is probably house hunting altough may be going to meet Leighs friends Liam and Lisa who are over.......sorry to interupt but an advert just came on about raising a claim with a law company regarding some medicine which gave its male takers female breasts!  American TV is nuts!......anyway they are going to be way over in Jamaica area (out beyond Queens) so depends if we can get out there or not, will see.  Anyway best finished my wine and get to bed :-)

Have a nice day! (couldnt resist!)

Jersey City/Newport from Tribeca

Missing our wee man :-(
